
Garfield passed away peacefully at his home on the farm on Sunday, April 5, 2015 at the age of 74. He was born on June 16, 1940 in Welwyn, Saskatchewan in a family of six children.
He was predeceased by his parents Edwin and Jean (McLellan) Fisher; brothers Fred and John Fisher; brother-in-law Howard Kirkpatrick; sister-in-law Karen Fisher; nephew Murray Kirkpatrick and niece Sherry Kamula.
Garfield is survived by his wife Helen of Moosomin, Saskatchewan; his sister Frances Kirkpatrick of Rivers, Manitoba; his brothers Everett (Carol) Fisher of Cayley, Alberta and Wesley (Cheryl) Fisher of Lethbridge, Alberta; and sister-in-law Jo Fisher of Edmonton, Alberta; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews; and three step-children and their families.
Garfield was involved in his community being a longtime member of the Welwyn United Church, Welwyn Legion, community rink, and having served as a councillor of the RM of Moosomin and other local causes. He particularly liked curling both as a participant and on a number of trips to Canadian championships.
Garfield will be remembered as a consummate caregiver and a devoted husband, brother, and uncle.
Garfield loved his family and will be missed by many.
A funeral service was held in the Trinity United Church, Welwyn on Wednesday, April 15 with Dawn Wilson officiating. Interment was in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Moosomin.
