It is with broken hearts the family of Kevin Solmes announces that he tragically left us on January 2, 2019, at the age of 36.
Kevin was born in Lanigan, Sask., where he spent much of his life.
Kevin’s goofy, zest for life has touched many. He was always around to lend a hand, go on an “adventure”, learn new skills, or teach you some of his own.
Kevin began his working career with CP Rail, where he spent 15 years working from Nokomis to Saskatoon. In 2017, Kevin and Tina made the decision to move to Rocanville, Sask., where he began working at Nutrien Rocanville. Not leaving the rail yards behind, he worked loading the potash cars.
In Kevin’s heart he was always a farmer, with dreams of one day taking over the family farm at Viscount, Sask., where he would be able to putter around the yard fixing equipment, seed his land, and enjoy the sunsets.
Kevin leaves behind his beloved wife Tina, and son Zackary; parents Don and Irene Solmes; sister Alison (Darryl) and children, Kaitlyn and Derek; parents-in-law, Michael and Karin Schlicker; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and life-long friends.
A Memorial Service was held for Kevin at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Lanigan, Sask., on Friday, January 11, 2019, at 2 pm. People were asked to attend in colorful, funny clothing—true Kevin style.
Memorial donations may be directed to the Rocanville Fire Department, c/o Town of Rocanville, P.O. Box 265 Rocanville, SK, S0A 3L0. Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, SK. (306-682-4114) www.schuler-lefebvrefuneralchapel.com
