Clara Irene Arnason of Tantallon, Saskatchewan passed away on September 7, 2020 in the Langenburg Centennial Special Care Home at 101 years of age. Clara was born on the Meston homestead farm, southeast of Stockholm, Saskatchewan on March 29, 1919 to Joseph and Barbara (Knourek) Meston. She was one of six children, having two sisters, Grace and Ruby and three brothers, Joseph, Wilfred and Roy.

Clara attended school in Stockholm and then Normal School in Regina from 1939-1940. She taught school for five years: St. David (Stockholm), Macoun, Lipton, and Tantallon.

In 1945 Clara married Arni Arnason. They farmed and raised their family on the Arnason homestead farm northeast of Tantallon.

Clara lived the typical life of a farmwife, homemaker and mother. Her kitchen was her domain, and she spent most of her waking hours baking and cooking for family, hired hands, and visitors. Clara was actively involved in school and community activities and enjoyed lending an artistic hand to decorating for school and community functions. She was also an active member of the Saskatchewan Housing Authority in Tantallon for several years.

Clara is survived by her seven children: Shannon (Arnold) Kozak, Fern (Delbert) Lowe, Dale (Wendy) Arnason, Daphne Arnason (Leo Bourassa), Wayne (Marlene) Arnason, Lloyd (Patricia) Arnason, and Arnold (Melanie) Arnason. She has thirteen grandchildren: Goldean Lowe (Brent); Jeffrey (Desiree), Nathan (Lara), Shawn (Brittany), and Aaron Bourassa; Cory (Michelle), Jason (Kendra) Arnason; Stefan (Renata), Braden (Brandi), Tresley Arnason; Jocelyn, Cameron and Kirsten Arnason. There are eleven great-grandchildren: Evelyn and Thomas Bourassa; Oliver and Layne Arnason; Dominik, Holt, Archer, Asten, Cade, Luka and Blayke Arnason.

At Clara’s request, a Private Family Graveside service and burial took place at Holar Cemetery, Tantallon, Saskatchewan on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 2 pm. If friends so desire, donations may be made to Holar Cemetery.

Clara’s family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to the staff of the Langenburg Centennial Special Care Home for their compassionate care and kindness shown to Clara and her family during her short stay there.
