Georgina is survived by her sister Hellen Vallee, sisters-in-law Bernice Beckett and Gwen Chipman, brother-in-law Allan MacKay, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Gone before, her husband Grant, her parents Antonio and Leonie Beliveau, sister Lillian and brother-in-law Elmer Labreche, brother Roger and sister-in-law Margaret Beliveau, twin brother George and sister-in-law Marianne Beliveau, sister-in-law Janet MacKay and brother-in-law’s Gerry Vallee, Jim Chipman, Edward (Ted) Beckett, Gerald Beckett, Charles Beckett and sister-in-law Audrey Beckett.

Gina grew up in the Wolseley area and helped with all aspects of farm life and worked off the farm from a very young age. Everyone in her generation grew up during tough times and developed a deep appreciation for the lessons learned from the hard life they had. While working in Wolseley she met Grant, after dating and falling in love, they were married on September 1, 1956. After living in the mountains of BC for a short time, they moved back to the prairies to open a plumbing business in Wolseley. Eventually, their love of farming drew them to the Moosomin area, where they settled in the Spring Creek District. The family feels blessed to have grown up in this tight knit community of neighbours, that created lifelong memories and friendships. Georgina and Grant sold Willowbrook farm after 37 years but were not yet finished with hard work. Moving closer to Moosomin, they developed a new, smaller acreage, from the ground up. After ten years on the acreage, they finally retired and moved to Moosomin where they continued helping at the Shepherd farm. After Grant’s passing in 2018, Gina still wanted a ride in the old truck to lend a hand at the hops farm.

She was passionate about sports, her favorites being hockey, baseball and horse racing. She was most proud of her French-Canadian heritage and being able to say she was Jean Beliveau’s cousin and always watched the Montreal Canadians. And attended her first NHL game in Winnipeg, featuring her favorite team at age 86. In her younger years she played baseball on a Women’s team, and loved watching the Blue Jays, even at Rogers Stadium. Gina also enjoyed her favorite type of horse racing, Sulky (Harness) racing in Ontario with her trip last year with family.

As a young mother with five children, balancing her family life and jobs required hard work and never giving up. Gina went to work in an animal Abattoir, and then years later worked for Home Care Services. Farm life was also her other job, which allowed her to provide for her family and kept the freezers full. She taught the family about processing chickens, canning and pickling, berry picking, harvesting, vegetable gardening, and of course flower beds. Her talents also included sewing clothes for herself, and then her daughter’s, entries in the local Ag fair, and singing in the church choir, but most of all, she was famous for her baked pies. She instilled a strong work ethic, that her family is proud to follow and even prouder to pass on to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gina was giving, generous, thoughtful and kind. She was ever so willing to help others when needed, volunteering at Spring Creek events, playing Santa’s elf for the Pipestone Kin-Ability Christmas parties, singing at the nursing home, delivering meals on wheels, church events, helping at the Thrift Store and supporting community causes and events.

Gina was fun-loving, warm and full of sparkle and life. She was polite and thoughtful, and even in her final days she continued to express her gratitude and appreciation to her family and those around her. Family was the most important thing in Gina’s world and brought her joy. She instilled her values and tradition of family in everyone. Her love and support for her family knew no bounds; she loved us unconditionally, and taught us to enjoy life. Georgina had an undying faith in God; no matter what life dealt her, she always believed everything would work out just fine. May she be remembered as a kind and gentle soul, always thinking of others first.

Thank you, Mom, for your commitment to our family, and for your unconditional love and support. We are all so thankful and proud that you were a part of our life. A New Journey Begins and in God’s own time we will meet again. If we had a flower for every time we thought of you, we could walk through your garden forever. Rest in peace, dear Mom! We love you!

A celebration of Georgina’s life and interment will be held later this summer when all her grandchildren can be there to join in celebrating how much she meant to everyone.

Donations in memory of Georgina can be made to the R.C. Church Memorial Fund Box 9, Moosomin, Saskatchewan where she faithfully attended and sang in the choir since 1964.
