May was born July 11, 1924 on the family farm in the Glen Adelaide District. She was one of ten children born to Ed and Maggie Christopher. May loved being on the farm. Over the years she also worked at various jobs including caring for children, housekeeping, a cook at Wawota hospital as well as a full-time homemaker and farmer’s wife. On December 28, 1955 May gave birth to her son Randy (from her first marriage).

May married Lorne Hambleton on July 10, 1970 in the town of Redvers. Following their wedding, May and Lorne moved to Kelso until 1980 when they built a home in Wawota. This is where May resided until later in life when she moved to the Sunrise Villa in Maryfield, and later the Deer View Lodge in Wawota.

May was an active member of the United Church, had a close circle of ladies she played cards with, she loved to travel and spend time with her family. May took pride in and cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and later great-grandchildren. She loved their spunk, laughter and rambunctious nature.

May will be greatly missed by her brother Don Christopher; her son Randy Hambleton; her grandchildren Randine (Mike) Lamontagne and their children Joseph and Matthew; Dichelle Kukura and her children Mason and Erin; Adrienne Hambleton and her children Kaden and Lucas as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Our family would like to extend our appreciation and gratitude to the staff at Deer View Lodge for the kind and compassionate care provided to May.

A private Graveside Service has been held at Wawota Cemetery.

For those who so desire, memorial tributes may be made to Deer View Lodge Wawota, Saskatchewan in memory of May.
