On Sunday, September 1, 2013, Jean Dorothea Machnaik (nee Duffin) of Rocanville passed away peacefully, at the age of 90 years. She was predeceased by her husband Walter of 55 years, her parents James and Jessie Duffin, two sisters and four brothers. Leaving to mourn her passing and celebration of her life are her five children: Terry (Edna), June (Harvey Norton), Bob (Colleen), Rick (Julie), Bill (Charlene); 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Jean was born in Larbert, Scotland on December 27, 1922. She met and married Walter Machnaik in 1946 and moved to Canada as a war bride. They farmed in the Cupar/Dysart district from 1947 until 1959 then moved to the Welwyn district. In 1976 they retired to Rocanville.
Memorial services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Rocanville. Interment followed at Webster Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Jean Machnaik can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Webster’s Cemetery in Rocanville.
