Wilbert Rae (Rae) Bradley passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2024. Just days after celebrating Easter with family, Rae fell at home and broke his hip. He was transported to Moosomin Hospital and then to Regina where he passed away the following day.

Rae was born on June 9, 1929 in the Hazel Cliffe area. Rae lived most of his life on the Bradley homestead which was established in 1889. Rae was a proud farmer who derived much happiness from growing crops and raising cattle. He farmed with his brother Lorne and nephew Grant. In 1989 the homestead received a Century Family Farm award.

Rae was actively involved in community serving many years as the secretary/treasurer of both the Hazel Cliffe United Church and Esterhazy Wheat Pool Committee.

Rae loved curling and was a competitive curler for many years. In 1965, Rae represented Hazel Cliffe at the Potashville Curling Competition in Langenburg, along with his brother Lorne, Allen Forst and Benny Forst. They won the right to represent Potashville at the 16th Annual International Invitational Bonspiel in Chicago. A trophy in Chicago bears their names for winning the Fourth Event.

Rae remained a bachelor for many years before finally meeting the love of his life, Marie, in 1997. Rae and Marie married in 1999 and continued to farm on the Bradley homestead. Rae and Marie loved to dance and watch curling. They enjoyed many winters in Osoyoos, B.C.

In 2009, they sold the farm and moved into Esterhazy where they remained until 2017. Rae spent the remainder of his days in Whitewood where he and Marie made many friends and were active in the community.

Rae lived a full and meaningful life filled with faith, kindness, generosity, and humour. Rae was deeply loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Although we are sad to lose a wonderful man, we celebrate a life well-lived.
Rae was predeceased by his father Wilbert Bradley, mother Alice Tebb, brother Wesley (in infancy), sister Irene Phillips, brother-in-law Delbert Phillips, brother Bob, sister Marie Forst, brother-in-law Allen Forst, and stepson Paul Kobayashi.

Rae will be lovingly remembered by his wife Marie Bradley, brother Lorne Bradley (Sheila), brother Lyle (Elaine), sister-in-law Faye, stepdaughter Dawn Kobayashi (Rod), stepdaughter Cindy Kobayashi (Shaun), grandchildren Bowen, Kennedy, Hailey, Kayla, Jacob, and Kellan, nieces and nephews who were very special to him including Gary, Glen, Lorna, Debbie, Dwayne, Grant, Laurie, Clayton, Charla, Dean and Darcy, as well as many great-nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held at St. Andrew’s United Church, Esterhazy, on Saturday, April 27, with Rev. Shelly Morris officiating, and special music by Len Gadica. Interment followed at Hazel Cliffe Cemetery, Hazel Cliffe, Sask.
Arrangements by Peter Carscadden Funeral Service, Esterhazy. 306-745-3304.
